To be very clear Network Pilot’s are not just FIFO crew on a day time / Monday to Friday roster. They fly RPT flights as well as FIFO flights that are expanding to back of clock and longer multi day trips.

Exactly like many Qantas mainline 737 pilots who are Perth based who fly FIFO and RPT.

The Nationals M.P.’s words were probably over the top and he is probably looking to secure his seat BUT, regional services do come second to mainline routes as seen with Voz, – they gave them the flick totally a while back.

It does seem way too wishy washy and disconnected from reality. You want to see the actual seats and the actual face masks in context. Sometimes direct communication is better. “Ladies and gentlemen, in the interests of your safety, we MUST have your attention.” That’s a direct quote from TAA BTW. I have never forgotten it.

It is about time that the FAA enforced proper regulation on Boeing certification processes. An end to self regulation would be highly appropriate. Indeed the grounding of all MAX 8, 9 and possibly 10 aircraft pending elimination of all potential design defects should be rigidly enforced!

In reply to rod_pickin@bigpond.com. Their wait for the 737 Max 10 is now likely to be pushed out by some margin, due to the Max 9 dramas. Unless they mix up there fleet, they won't be able to compete with Qantas and Jetstar, domestic on 737's is fine for some, but a 6 hr flight to Bali from Sydney or Melb on a 737 is not very comfortable and as you say likely to get diverted if adverse conditions prevail. There dreams of Phuket or elsewhere are just that dreams.

Virgin’s bid for extra Bali flights via Perth is their confirmation that the B737-800 is not the right aircraft for flights from our east coast. Destination weather fine all good, any hint of anything bad then you are looking for a fuel diversion, that’s why the opposition is planning the use of their new A321LR. The message must be, if you can’t at least match your opposition then forget it. At the risk of being boring, VOZ has to look at another aircraft type if it wants to be anything else than an intra Oz airline and forget the Max too

Why am I not surprised? Both Mr Kaine the current TWU fella and his predecessor, now Senator Sheldon, both have an anti Qantas DNA in their persona. Both have never forgiven Qantas and Joyce when he shut the airline down in 2011 to foil their campaign which the Fair Work Commission terminated in the national interest.
